Dear 719 Volunteer,
Let me begin by saying thank you in advance for your willingness to answer the cry of David, revealed in Psalm 71:9 and echoed in the countless lives of older people. I can’t think of a greater act of ministry than to remind people that they are neither abandoned nor forgotten by God or His people. For many of the people you will visit, you will become the physical manifestation of the comfort, care and presence of God. Wow! What an amazing gift you bring. In return, not only will you have the honor of meeting and caring for some very special people, you will also meet Christ face to face and have the opportunity to demonstrate your love and care to Him. Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
I don’t believe that anything can take the place of a personal connection with the people of God. For so many people living in nursinghomes, they have lost their connection to a local body of believers; either because they have moved from another town or perhaps have out-lived most of the people they once knew at church. You are now the connection that once again links these spiritual orphans to the family of faith. Thank you for your willingness to be that line of connection.
May God Bless You as You Minister,
The 719 Project
